Federal Pacific & Zinsco Panel Replacement in the Twin Cities
Federal Pacific (Stab-Lok) and Zinsco panels are a recognized fire hazard — their breakers can fail to trip during an overload or short. If your home has one, replacing it with a modern 200-amp panel is strongly recommended and increasingly required by insurers. Three Rivers Electric replaces them, typically for $7,700–$9,500.
What it costs to replace a Federal Pacific or Zinsco panel
| Replacement | Typical price* |
|---|---|
| Federal Pacific / Zinsco → modern 100A panel | ~$7,700 |
| → 150A service upgrade | ~$8,100 |
| → 200A service upgrade (recommended) | $7,700–$9,500 |
| Whole-home surge protector (code-required) | $527 |
*Typical installed prices from our own completed Twin Cities projects. Minnesota’s 2023 code requires a whole-home surge protector and an outdoor emergency disconnect on a service upgrade — both included. Final price depends on service-entrance condition, panel location, and permit; we give a firm written quote after a free visit.
